All work is carried out by either Richard or Michelle, or both of us 😊
Here is a detailed guide to how we work, so you know exactly what to expect when booking our services.
1. Before We Arrive
Initial Consultation & Quotation
- We offer a free, no-obligation survey of your carpets, upholstery, or leather items.
- During this visit, we assess the areas to be cleaned, discuss any specific concerns (e.g. stains, odours, wear), and identify delicate fabrics or potential problem areas.
- We’ll explain the cleaning process, provide honest advice, and issue a written quotation detailing the work and costs involved.
Preparing Your Home
- Please remove small items, fragile objects, and valuables from the areas to be cleaned.
- For safety and efficiency, we recommend securing pets in a separate area during our visit.
- Let us know in advance about any heavy or awkward furniture you’d like moved so we can plan appropriately.
2. Arrival at Your Home
Professional Appearance & Conduct
- We arrive promptly in the scheduled timeframe and in uniform.
- Our equipment is modern, clean, and well-maintained.
- We introduce ourselves and run through the planned work so you know exactly what we’re doing.
Home Protection Measures
- We lay down protective coverings in high-traffic areas to safeguard floors and other surfaces.
- Corner protectors may be used to prevent hoses or equipment from marking walls or furniture.
- Our tools and products are handled carefully to avoid accidental spills or damage.
3. Furniture Handling
Moving Furniture
- We carefully move light, easily managed furniture such as chairs, coffee tables, or small side tables to clean underneath and around them.
- Larger, heavier items like wardrobes, large beds, or full bookcases usually remain in place unless otherwise arranged during the quotation stage.
- Any furniture we move is replaced carefully once cleaning and drying allow, most of the time we place a barrier between the damp carpet and furniture legs.
4. Cleaning Process
Inspection & Testing
- We conduct pre-cleaning checks on carpets and fabrics, performing colourfastness and shrinkage tests where necessary.
- We discuss any pre-existing damage or areas of concern to set realistic expectations for cleaning results.
Vacuuming & Dry Soil Removal
- Dry soil removal is crucial. We use industrial-strength vacuuming to extract loose dirt, dust, pet hair, and allergens before wet cleaning begins.
Spot & Stain Treatments
- Stains are treated individually using specialist spotting solutions.
- While we achieve excellent stain removal results, some stains (e.g. dye, bleach, or set-in stains) may be permanent or only partially removable. We’ll always explain the likely outcome.
Deep Cleaning Methods
Depending on the item or surface, we may use:
✅ Low-Moisture Cleaning
- Ideal for delicate fabrics or areas requiring quick drying.
- Helps prevent over-wetting and reduces the risk of shrinkage.
✅ Hot Water Extraction (Steam Cleaning)
- Our most thorough method for carpets and many upholstery fabrics.
- Hot water and cleaning solution are injected under pressure, then extracted with powerful vacuums, lifting dirt, allergens, and residues.
✅ Encapsulation Cleaning
- Used for certain commercial or residential carpets.
- Soil is encapsulated in microscopic crystals, which are removed during subsequent vacuuming.
Rinsing & Neutralising
- We rinse fibres to remove detergent residues, helping carpets and upholstery stay cleaner for longer.
- A final pH-balancing rinse leaves fibres soft and residue-free.
5. Drying & Aftercare
Drying Times
- Drying times vary based on the cleaning method, carpet or fabric type, and ventilation in your home.
- Typically, carpets and upholstery are touch-dry within 2-6 hours.
- We use air movers or drying fans where necessary to accelerate drying.
Access Restrictions
- Walking on freshly cleaned carpets while damp can transfer soils, cause impressions, or slow drying.
- We’ll advise when it’s safe to walk on carpets or use furniture again.
6. Health, Safety, and the Environment
- We use high-quality, professional cleaning solutions, many of which are eco-friendly and safe for pets and children once dry.
- All products are applied and rinsed following manufacturer guidelines to ensure safety and optimal results.
- We comply fully with health and safety regulations, including safe handling and disposal of cleaning solutions.
7. Aftercare Advice
- We’ll provide guidance on maintaining your carpets, upholstery, or leather between professional cleans.
- Advice may include vacuuming frequency, dealing with spills promptly, and suitable cleaning products for spot treatments.
We’re always happy to answer questions even after your appointment.
